THE MUSIC OF JAMAICA

Rules & Guidelines - Our goal here is to focus on and discover Jamaican music, reggae, dancehall, mento, ska, dub, rock-steady and Jamaican folk music. You may play music which include sub-genres such as ragamuffin, lover's rock, toasting, dub poetry, kumina, niyabinghi, calypso, SOCA and related styles. In addition, the music should be of direct Jamaican (lineage) origin. We're not bias, this is simply our theme.

1) Please play only music that is appropriate according to our theme. Some music from Africa, Caribbean islands and Latin America countries are accepted, but please don't drift too far or too often.

2) Check the DJ History to see what's already been played. Please ask first before launching into your songs that are longer than 6 minutes.

3) DO NOT PLAY (Example:SOJA or SNOOP LION), If you play off-genre (off-theme) music in this room, you will be removed from the DJ stand, or banned. Basically, please keep it in the genres of Jamaican music, and we'll all have a good time!

4) If you don't agree with our rules you may create your own room or there are other rooms where you can play whatever you like. However, please do not post links to other rooms here. In addition, do not post harmful or malicious links. Please do report anyone trolling.

When we think of Jamaican music, the first thing that normally comes to mind is reggae, however, there is more to Jamaican music than just reggae. We need people to be clear on this. This way, each genre of music from our island gets its individual just dues
